All About Us

Potton Dance Academy first opened in 1983 with Ballet classes at Potton Community Centre.  Miss Jodie joined the school aged 3 to take part in baby ballet classes, and later joined in with Tap & Modern lessons too.  She continued at the school until age 16, and went on to study a BTEC National Diploma in Dance, followed by Ba Honours degree in Performing Arts.  After leaving university, Miss Jodie attended The Dance College, a professional teacher training centre of the ISTD where she gained her Diploma in Dance Instruction and Diploma in Dance Education.

Later, Miss Jodie also became a registered member of the IDTA and is pleased to be able to bring both syllabus pathways to the school.  Miss Jodie became the Principal of Potton Dance Academy in 2010 and the school has double in size since then.  The school continues to grow each term and welcomes new students of all ages and abilities year round.

Our teaching team are passionate and dedicated about dance in all it's disciplines and regularly undergo continued professional development courses to refresh and reinvigorate their knowledge of the subjects they teach.
All classes at the school are taught by qualified, registered dance teachers who have an up to date knowledge of the working exam syllabi of the ISTD and the IDTA.

All teachers have an enhanced DBS certificate, dance teachers insurance, emergency first aid/paediatric first aid certificates, safeguarding and child protection training and a wealth of experience working with children and young adults.  All classes at the school include syllabus and non-syllabus work to enable our students to develop a sound knowledge of their chosen dance genre/s.
