Our Dance Classes ...
We invite boys and girls to join our classes from four years old, they can enrol in Ballet, Tap & Modern lessons which run throughout weekday evenings and on Saturday mornings. Here the children will begin to learn some of the fundamental elements of dance through fun exercises that include solo work, partner and group work, skipping, galloping, balancing, bouncing, marching, clapping and singing along to the music in fun and imaginative weekly lessons. We follow the set dance syllabus of the ISTD, our classes start at Primary level, follow through Grades 1-6 and feed in to the vocational Intermediate & Advanced exams which are accredited by the QCA and are included on the national qualifications framework.
Senior students also take an additional class - Stretch & Strengthen - which follows on from their class work in Modern. In this extra session we focus on developing technique, strength, power, flexibility and stamina. We aim to improve these individual elements in order to keep up with the more demanding workload of the higher graded syllabus.
We also have Adult Tap lessons on our timetable too, these classes are 'pay as you go' and are aimed at fun, friendship and fitness as well as learning new steps and new routines on a weekly basis.
We currently have an Intermediate class for adults who have previous experience in Tap, but we plan to start a brand new beginners Tap & Modern Jazz class for adults in the Spring Term.
All classes at the school are taught by ISTD qualified, registered dance teachers who have an up to date knowledge of the working exam syllabi. Our teachers have an enhanced DBS check, dance teachers insurance, emergency first aid and/or paediatric first aid certificates, child protection training and a wealth of experience working with children and young adults. All our classes include syllabus and non-syllabus work to enable our students to develop a sound knowledge of their chosen dance genre/s.
