Welcome to Potton Dance Academy
We're a fun and friendly dancing school based in Potton, Bedfordshire.
The school currently has 30 classes running each week, housing over 100 students who take part in Classical Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre, Stretch & Strengthen and Adult Tap; as well as annual Showcases and Exam sessions.
Weekly classes are held throughout term-time for children, teens and adults of all ages and abilities. New starters are welcome to join us throughout the year.
The dancing school in Potton first opened in 1983 with Ballet classes at Potton Community Centre. Miss Jodie joined the school aged 3 to take part in baby ballet classes, and later took part in Tap & Modern lessons too. She continued at the school until age 16, and went on to study a BTEC National Diploma in Dance, followed by a Ba Honours degree in Performing Arts.
After leaving university, Miss Jodie attended The dance College, a professional teacher training centre of the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) where she spent four years under the direction of ISTD Fellow & Examiner Miss Penny Meekings. Here she achieved both her Diploma in Dance Instruction and Diploma in Dance Education which enables her to teach the set dance syllabus of the ISTD and to enter children for their own dancing exams.
In January 2010, Miss Jodie became the proud owner and principal of the Potton dancing school which then became 'Jodie Robertson School Of Dance'. After almost 10 years running the school, Jodie is now planning her wedding and her upcoming name-change prompted her to rename the towns' longest running dancing school as ...... 'Potton Dance Academy!'
"Our goal is for every child who attends our classes to enjoy creating and performing dance, to gain a fun new hobby, to learn a great skill, to make new friends, and to grow up with a passion for music and movement."
